The City of Daytona Beach has shared pertinent race and traffic information regarding the upcoming race events at the Daytona International Speedway this weekend.

The city is anticipating over 200,000 race fans and visitors to be in the area for the Wawa 250 - Powered by Coca-Cola Race on Friday, August 26, and the Coke Zero Sugar 400 on Saturday, August 27. Peak event times will be a few hours before the start of the races, which is 7:30 p.m. on Friday and 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, as well as a few hours after the races are over each day.

According to a release, residents should use roadways near the Daytona International Speedway for routine travel during peak event times if they are not going to the races. North and South- bound drivers should take Nova Road (State Road 5A), Ridgewood Avenue (US 1), and Atlantic Avenue (SR A1A) over Clyde Morris or Williamson Boulevards. While East and West-bound drivers should use Beville Road (SR 400) and LPGA Boulevard instead of International Speedway Boulevard (US 92).

Beachgoers are encouraged to avoid International Speedway Boulevard (US 92) during peak event times, especially those coming from west of Daytona Beach or the interstate highways (I-4 & I-95). Direct alternates to the beach are Granada Boulevard (SR 40) in Ormond Beach or Dunlawton Avenue (SR 421) in Port Orange.

The City of Daytona Beach has shared the following information for race fans:

BEFORE THE RACES

  • Interstate drivers: Use the Beville Road (SR 400) exit, then head north on Clyde Morris Boulevard to Richard Petty Boulevard. Turn west onto Petty to get to the Speedway parking lots.
  • Parking: Traffic may be directed to parking lots at the west end of the Speedway via Williamson Boulevard from Beville Road.
  • Richard Petty Boulevard: Expect congestion from Clyde Morris to Midway Boulevard’s surrounding the start and end times of the race because of parking.

AFTER THE RACES

  • Bill France Boulevard: Northbound may be closed from ISB/US 92 following both races. Southbound may be closed from Dunn Avenue following both races.
  • Daytona Beach International Airport parking: Exit east via Richard Petty Boulevard and then go south on Clyde Morris Boulevard. Head west on Beville Road for access to Interstates 4 or 95. I-95 drivers can also continue south on Clyde Morris and turn west on Dunlawton Avenue.
  • Clyde Morris Boulevard: Southbound traffic will be restricted at LPGA Boulevard. Northbound will be restricted at Jimmy Ann Drive.
  • Dunn Avenue will only be open to local traffic and enforced.
  • Fentress Boulevard: Normal traffic patterns will be in place between Bayless Boulevard and Mason Avenue. However, Mason Avenue will be open to business traffic only.
  • International Speedway Boulevard (US 92): Westbound traffic will experience lengthy delays immediately after the race to accommodate the thousands of race spectators to cross ISB safely. Those that wish to head west are encouraged to use Beville Road (SR 400).
  • Legends Boulevard: Traffic may be forced northbound on Bill France Boulevard following both races.
  • LPGA Boulevard: Traffic eastbound from ISB/US 92 may experience lengthy delays.
  • Richard Petty Boulevard: Heavy congestion. No one-way traffic pattern.
  • Thames Road: Traffic will be directed south towards Williamson Boulevard. Northbound traffic on Williamson may be restricted during peak times.
  • Volusia Mall parking: Go right from the main entrance at Midway Avenue, then turn right again on Bill France Boulevard and head north to Mason Avenue. From there, east or west traffic may use Mason. Those continuing north can use Clyde Morris Boulevard to access Jimmy Ann Drive.
  • Williamson Boulevard: Normal traffic at all times.
  • Other traffic patterns may be implemented following the end of the Coke Zero Sugar 400 and the fireworks show on August 27.
