Volusia County’s Community Assistance Division wants to financially assist driver education safety programs in public and nonpublic schools in Volusia County and is currently accepting applications. Applications are being accepted for the upcoming year, from October 1, 2022, through September 30, 2023, and applications must be received by noon on Friday, September 2.
According to a release, the funds must go towards direct educational expenses, not administrative costs. The assistance is available from fees collected by the Clerk of the Court for civil traffic fines and penalties per the Dori Slosberg Driver Education Safety Act, and qualified driver education programs must be available to all public and nonpublic – home and private – schools with students in grades 9-12 that offer driver education instruction programs.
Applications are available at www.volusia.org/community_assistance/applications or by contacting Grant Coordinator Anslee Holland at aholland@volusia.org or at 386-736-5955, ext. 12908. Applications can be submitted via email, mail, or in person.
