Volusia County Asking Residents to Provide Input on Sea Level Rise.

County Officials from the Environmental Management Division is working on developing strategies to help residents and local government plan for future impacts of flooding, storm surge, and sea-level rise.

According to a release put out by the county, it’s all about resilience, which refers to the ability of individuals, communities, institutions, and businesses to plan, sustain, adapt, recover, improve and grow collaboratively from specific events like flooding, a heatwave or chronic, long-term stresses such as water and food shortages.

Residents are being asked to complete a resilience survey at http://metroquestsurvey.com/xjk87 by February 28.

Survey takers will be asked to rank their values, rate strategies, and identify where public resources should be focused to increase community resilience. County staff will use the responses to identify resilience measures for consideration.

Other agencies involved in the regional resilience initiative are the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council, University of Florida Sea Grant, and Stetson University.
