Students of Bethune-Cookman University will be welcomed back to campus and in-person learning, midway through the spring semester, which started online only January 11.
According to a release put out by the school, in-person learning will resume Monday, February 15.
“While we are disappointed to have postponed welcoming students back to campus following the holidays, our commitment to maintaining the health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff mandated the delay,” said Bethune-Cookman University President LaBrent Chrite in a release back. In January. “Still, we continued teaching and learning through a robust use of online instruction. And we are mindful of the guidelines relative to preventing COVID 19 and its variants, taking every precaution to protect the safety of our students, faculty, and staff.”
The school’s decision to welcome back students on campus comes as positivity rates seem to be leveling off and the increasing availability of vaccines.
Students will be allowed on campus starting February 11 and will be tested for the virus before being allowed on campus. Safety policies and social distancing will be mandated.
School officials have canceled spring break and may make more adjustments to the academic calendar.
