The Ormond Beach Police Department made a significant breakthrough in investigating a $1.4 million embezzlement case that rocked a local insurance company through the collaborative efforts between the Ormond Beach Police Department and the Seventh Circuit State Attorney’s Office, which culminated in the arrest of Samantha Rae Link, a 30-year-old resident of Daytona Beach.
“The teamwork and professionalism shown by our investigators and the prosecutors at the State Attorney’s Office are a true testament that offenders will be brought to justice, I could not be prouder of their combined efforts," said Ormond Beach Police Chief Jesse Godfrey.
The arrest, which took place on August 9, 2023, followed the issuance of an arrest warrant for Link, a former accountant at Security First Insurance is now confronting charges, including Grand Theft exceeding $100,000 and Organized Scheme to Defraud surpassing $50,000.
“The Seventh Circuit State Attorney’s Office has a dedicated and very effective White-Collar Crime unit. We are fortunate to have an excellent partnership with the Ormond Beach Police Department, and together we solved an economic crime of massive proportions," said State Attorney R. J. Larizza.
Link is currently in custody at the Volusia County Branch Jail on a $650,000 bond.
