Recreation enthusiasts in Ormond Beach are rejoicing as Volusia County unveils three brand new pickleball courts at Michael Crotty Bicentennial Park, a strategic response to the exponential growth and popularity of pickleball, which has established itself as a favorite among sports enthusiasts.
"Bicentennial Park has always been a hub for the community to get out and enjoy Volusia County. The addition of pickleball courts not only expands recreational opportunities but also allows pickleball players to engage in their sport within a designated space, tailored to the unique needs of their game," said Tim Baylie, the Director of Parks, Recreation, and Culture.
Pickleball, recently crowned as the fastest-growing sport in America, has captured the attention of Volusia County Parks, Recreation, and Culture, as the three new courts at Michael Crotty Bicentennial Park follow the announcement of two additional courts unveiled at DeLeon Spring's Chuck Lennon Park this month. Funding for these state-of-the-art courts has been made possible through the voter-approved Volusia ECHO (Environmental, Cultural, Historical, and Outdoor Recreation) Program.
