Volusia County Schools has announced that all students will receive free school breakfast and lunch for the 2022-23 school year, and families will not have to fill out the family income applications for free and reduced-price meals this year.
According to a release, the district will operate a Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program for the 2022-2023 school year, eliminating the collection of the family's income on the application. All school sites in Volusia County School District qualify to operate a CEP, allowing all students to receive a nutritious breakfast and lunch each day at no charge.
Ivy Hawn, Richard Milburn Academy West, and Richard Milburn Academy East students, along with AMI Kids will also receive meals for free. Directly Certified (DC) families enrolled in state assistance programs will still receive their eligibility letter for after-school care benefits.
