Every 5 years a review is conducted to determine how to improve the quality of a school district. On June 7th, the Volusia County School Board met to review the timeline and process for this year's accreditation review to be conducted by a non-profit accrediting organization, Cognia, for K-12 schools, which is set to take place March 7th-10th 2022 for Deland, in Volusia County.
The accreditation review will focus on leadership capacity, learning capacity and resource capacity and will award points based upon the performance standards relating to these 3 main domains. The review will be conducted remotely. Volusia County stakeholders will review documentation, interviews, surveys and walk-through observations at the schools. According to Superintendent, Dr. Scott Fritz, the district has assembled 3 teams to prepare for the review.
