At the 76th Annual Joint Conference of Florida School Boards Association and Florida Association of District School Superintendents held in Tampa on Wednesday, December 1, the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations recognized two statewide school district leaders in Florida for their exemplary leadership. Volusia County School Board Member Linda Cuthbert was among the two leaders.

Local education foundation leaders nominated her alongside other superintendents and school board members for the annual award for her leadership and involvement.

“Volusia County has been extremely fortunate to have Ms. Cuthbert and her tireless leadership and talent for more than thirty years as an educator and now school board member,” said Heather Bond Vargas, FUTURES Foundation board President in her recommendation letter. “She is a star, and the world should know it!”

While nominating Cuthbert, community leaders referenced her history with the FUTURES Foundation for Volusia County Schools. She began as a teacher and continued as the school board liaison to the foundation board for several years.

“We think it’s important to celebrate the school district leaders who make it a priority to foster private-sector support of public education through their local education foundations,” said Mary Chance, Consortium President & CEO. “This year’s recipients are outstanding examples of the many individuals who advocate for our local education foundations and help us raise more than $83 million annually to support our students, teachers, and schools.”
