Volusia Council On Aging
COA is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing services that enable Volusia County seniors to maintain their independence and remain in their own homes. Our services are designed to enrich the quality of life for seniors. Working with the senior and their families and caregivers, COA creates an individualized plan of care to improve quality of life and overcome obstacles, so that living at home remains an option. Our staff of over 120 employees are well-trained professionals with a heart for seniors. We are a member of the National Council on Aging Association and receive oversight by ElderSource, Florida's Northeast Region Area Agency on Aging and the Department of Elder Affairs
Mission Statement
The mission of Council on Aging of Volusia County is to enrich the lives of our most vulnerable elderly citizens
by providing needed services that allow them to remain safely in their own homes.
Although we were established in 1967 as the agency to care for impoverished seniors using Federal and State funded programs established through the Older Americans Act, we have extended our reach. Services are now available through our private pay option so that anyone of any age in our community who needs an extra pair of hands can pay for our services without being on a "wait list" for funding. As a non-profit organization, funds raised from private pay are reinvested into the organization. This helps COA care for seniors who cannot afford to pay for vital services they need.
