Daytona Beach Police Department has announced its plan for traffic flow for the COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Clinic that is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday of next week.

According to a release, the vaccine distribution clinic will set up at the Daytona Stadium off of LPGA, and DBPD has created a plan to help keep everyone safe, to help health officials distribute vaccines in an orderly and efficient manner.

The plan was designed with help from years of experience managing traffic flow for large events like Bike Week and the Daytona 500. It is subject to change at any time based on need as determined by commanding officers on the ground.

Traffic flow along LPGA Boulevard will remain as usual.

Vehicles can enter Daytona Stadium through the north entrance – a one-way traffic flow will be implemented, which will be in effect until those vehicles leave via the south gate.

The North entrance gate will open two hours before the start of vaccine distribution, and vaccines will be administered on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Only a thousand vaccines will be given each day. A count of people in each vehicle will be noted. No one else will be allowed to enter the stadium, once the limit has been reached.

Officers will direct anyone outside Daytona Stadium who may have come for the shot, to come back the next day. Electronic message boards will be staged along LPGA Boulevard to provide updated messages.

Officials understand that there is a very high demand for this vaccine and that some people are considering camping out the night before or showing up hours in advance to make sure they or their loved ones get the shot first. They DO NOT encourage you to do that due to a potential safety hazard.

No one receiving a shot will be allowed inside the facility until the gates are open, and those wanting a vaccine should expect long wait times before the shot distribution begins. Stadium bathrooms and port-a-johns will be accessible to those who will be waiting for the shot once they enter the facility.

As a friendly reminder – if you’ve had COVID-19 in the past two weeks or had a COVID-19 vaccine shot in the past two weeks, you will NOT be allowed to get a shot.
