The UF/IFAS Extension Volusia County is a partnership between State, Federal, and County governments to provide scientific knowledge and expertise to the public.
According to a release, Extension Agent Lisa Hamilton - a HUD-certified housing and accredited financial counselor, will host virtual classes at the following times:
- 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. October 7 and 8 (in Spanish)
- 5 to 9 p.m. October 21 and 28
- 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. November 13
- 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. December 3 and 10
The virtual Zoom classes consist of eight hours of education, most broken up into two four-hour sessions.
Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate allowing them to apply for federal down payment and closing cost assistance programs available through Volusia County, Seminole County, and the City of Deltona. Certificates of completion from the Home Buyer Education course are in effect for up to 24 months for most DPA programs.
The cost is $10 per household, and scholarships are available upon request.
