New Heights Community Church
New Heights Community Church began as Faith Memorial in the upholstery shop of William H. Jones on Liberty Street in downtown Augusta in 1960. Inman Moore was the church's first pastor. In 1964, William H Jones was ordained as the new pastor. In the same year, urban renewal came through and forced the church to relocate to DeSoto Avenue in Martinez. Groundbreaking for the church began in 1966 and was completed in two years. During that time, services were held at the home of Pastor Jones.
Our current pastor, Jerry Jones, the son of William Jones, took over the leadership of our church, December 2003.
Under the guidance of Pastor Jones, our church took a different direction. Pastor Jones felt God was leading us to be more of an outreach church in the Grovetown community. The Martinez building was sold and land was purchased in Grovetown on Columbia Road. Our present facility was completed in December 2006.
