Halifax Health - Hospice Ormond Beach Care Center

Ormond Beach residents in need of expert hospice care can find it close to home at Halifax Health - Hospice’s newest Care Center located at 235 Booth Road in Ormond Beach. The beautiful, $5-million facility joins Halifax Health - Hospice care centers in Port Orange, Orange City and Edgewater in serving the compassionate care needs of Volusia and Flagler county residents.

“We are excited to expand our hospice care services to our neighbors in Ormond Beach,” says Fran Davis, executive director of Halifax Health - Hospice. “Like our other Care Centers in Volusia County, this facility will provide a home-like setting where hospice nurses, physicians, spiritual and emotional support care staff and trained volunteers offer around-the-clock compassionate care for patients who are unable to remain at home.”

The Ormond Beach Care Center is an impressive 12- bed, 20,320-square-foot facility that includes a kitchen, chapel, living room, and a garden area that features a labyrinth where family members can reflect. In addition, the garden area includes a veterans’ memorial.

The Care Center is themed after the iconic Hotel Ormond, a beloved Ormond Beach hotel that hosted many of America’s elite industrialists of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Opened in 1888, the hotel’s guests included John D. Rockefeller, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, and the Vanderbilts. The Care Center features several artifacts from the hotel, including a door, windows, banisters, a menu and other items that are on display and incorporated into the Care Center’s design.

more a part of our new neighborhood,” Davis says.

Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed at the Care Center to assist in a variety of roles – from greeting guests and sitting with patients to preparing meals and bereavement support. Halifax Health – Hospice relies on adult and teen volunteers to assist in caring for patients and their families. Our volunteers receive specialized training and undergo a background check. Ongoing support and continuing education is also provided.

Since 1979, Halifax Health - Hospice has been compassionately providing care and services to Volusia and Flagler residents with the goal of honoring the wishes of patients and assisting them in celebrating life one day at a time.

Through our support system we honor wishes during the patient’s remaining time and make end-of-life as peaceful and fulfilling as possible. Our care can be delivered anywhere – in one of our Care Centers, at home, an assisted living facility, nursing home – or wherever the patient chooses to spend their final weeks or months.

Our services include: pain management, administering medications as prescribed by the physician, spiritual support from our chaplains and spiritual volunteers, emotional support for the patient and family members and respite for caregivers. In addition, we provide assistance with resources including financial aid, funeral arrangements and advanced directives.

Halifax Health - Hospice care teams include a physician medial director, hospice nurses and certified nursing assistants, chaplain, social worker and volunteers. We serve our patients 24-hours a day, seven days a week, knowing that a dedicated and caring team can make a difference for those facing end-of-life as well as their families.

Our support continues after the loss of a loved one. We offer a comprehensive approach with services to support families through their loss. Our bereavement offerings include support groups for young widows, parents coping with a loss of a child and traumatic loss. Children’s grief support is also available.
