Our Story

It was the year 2000 when Cindy Lescarbeau saw a need for a faith-based training program for young performing artists in her community. She started an after school program with seven tiny ballerinas.

Cindy decided to name it Dance Divine Ministries because she felt one day it would offer much more than ballet. Years later she added several new classes and moved the young company to a fully equipped in-home studio with the help of the Endsley and Johnson families and her father, John Freed; classes began to grow.

Thirteen years later she underwent a lifesaving, kidney transplant thanks to her living donor, Erika Treadway. Cindy came out of the surgery with a renewed love for life and passion to make a greater spiritual impact in her community and beyond.

Four months after her surgery, Tomoka Christian Church rented their beautiful, fully equipped performing arts studios out to Dance Divine Ministries. This blessing from the church leaders and from the Lord inspired Cindy to take a leap of faith and invest in a larger, highly trained staff with widely varying skills to enrich our program. The decision was a great success! Dance Divine Ministries now trains more than eighty performing artists ranging from age three through adults.
