Earth Day at the EDC and Tree Giveaway
On Saturday, April 20, from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Environmental Discovery Center (EDC) in Ormond Beach, the EDC will celebrate Earth Day. The free event guided nature walks, games and crafts, and special guest presentations, environmental exhibitors, native plant vendors, and more. The City of Ormond Beach is giving away trees at the event beginning at 9 a.m. Residency in Ormond Beach is required. Follow posted signs once you arrive. Native tree varieties available include: Live Oak, Red Maple, Dahoon Holly, and Bald Cypress.
Earth Day is an annual event on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First held on April 22, 1970, it now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally by Earthday.org including 1 billion people in more than 193 countries. The official theme for 2024 is "Planet vs. Plastics."
