Organizers of the Daytona Beach Truck Meet took to social media on Monday to officially announce that the event will not be returning to the World’s Most Famous Beach in 2022.

“Due to circumstances out of our control, the #DaytonaTruckMeet will no longer be returning to Daytona Beach. We are in final talks with new show venues currently. We will have an update for those once we have them,” said event organizers in a post on the Truck Meet’s official Facebook page.

The annual event has been under fire thanks to participant behavior and gridlocking traffic, which caused police to close local bridges to the beachside area. There have been multiple complaints filed from residents of violence, destruction of property, and enormous amounts of trash littering the beach that occurred throughout the event.

Daytona Beach City Officials formed a Special Events Task Force in response to events like the Daytona Beach Truck Meet.

“After years of working well with the speedway and zero issues within show grounds, the unruly nightly activities have forced our hand not to disrupt the Daytona Beach Community any longer. We feel very sorry for the local businesses and hoteliers who depend on our crowd to make a living. We tried everything in our wheelhouse to keep the show local,” said event organizers. “We thank everyone for helping us along the way. It was a good eight years in Daytona Beach, and we look forward to the future and realize when one door closes, multiple doors open.”

All vendors who have signed up already for the 2022 event will be refunded, and new vendor kits will be sent out, pending the selection of a new venue.
