The City of Daytona Beach put out a statement announcing improvements are getting underway for the Champions Drive Roadway Project.
According to the release, to improve safety for motorists and pedestrians the City of Daytona Beach is replacing damaged sidewalks, curbing, and roadway surface on the 2.5-mile stretch of Champions Drive from LPGA Boulevard to International Golf Drive.
The project is scheduled to start Monday, March 15. Completion is expected for some time in the Summer.
Champions Drive will remain accessible; however, traffic may be limited to one lane at times. Flaggers will help direct traffic.
The city is inviting the public to a community meeting this Thursday, March 18, at 6 p.m.
The meeting will educate the public on the roadway improvements that are projected for the 2.5-mile stretch of Champions Drive. The meeting will be at Daytona Beach Fire Station No. 7- located off LPGA Blvd – across from Latitude Landings Publix.
Crews will start at LPGA Boulevard and work their way to the LPGA Clubhouse on International Golf Drive. Existing brick pavers to be replaced with durable stamped concrete.
Damaged sidewalks, affected by the adjacent oak trees taking root, will be improved before work starts on the roadway. Milling and resurfacing to a 1.5 depth is needed to restore the roadway.
